Reporting
Reporting is an optional feature in StepWorks that allows organizations to track procedure completion by authenticated users. When enabled, viewers are required to manually confirm each step before proceeding. This can be useful for quality control, compliance, or training validation.
You can also enable Photo Verification, requiring the viewer to upload a photo of their completed work at specific steps before continuing.
Reporting data is stored in your StepWorks Dashboard under the related product.
Reporting Settings
Reporting features are configured at the product level and managed from the Publishing Settings page for that product.
Reporting Toggle
- Enabled: Authenticated viewers must click a Confirm Step button before advancing to the next step.
- Disabled: Viewers can proceed freely without confirmation.
Photo Verification
- Enabled: The Confirm Step modal will require the viewer to upload a photo to confirm the step was executed.
- Disabled: No photo evidence is required.
Note: Photo verification requires reporting to be enabled first.
To adjust these settings:
- Open the relevant Product.
- Go to Publishing Settings.
- Select Private in the procedures panel.
- Toggle Reporting and Photo Verification on or off.
- Save your changes.
User Experience
When reporting is enabled, the viewer will experience the following changes during a procedure:
- A Confirm Step button appears at the end of each step.
- The viewer must manually confirm the step by selecting one of the following:
- Step executed successfully
- Step not executed
- An optional comment field is available for the viewer to provide context or feedback.
If Photo Verification is enabled for a step:
- A camera prompt will appear.
- The viewer must capture and upload a photo using their device’s camera in order to proceed to the next step.
At the end of the procedure, the viewer will be shown a report summary. This summary includes:
- All step confirmations
- Any comments provided
- Photos uploaded (if applicable)
The viewer must review and submit the report to complete the procedure.
This process ensures structured reporting and, when required, visual proof of task completion.
Reporting Data
Reports are stored in your StepWorks Dashboard under the related product. These reports provide insight into how users interact with procedures, including confirmations, comments, and photos submitted through reporting.
Only Admins have access to the reporting dashboard.
How to Access Reporting Data
Admins can locate reporting data by following this path:
- Go to Dashboard
- Scroll down to located the Products Table
- Click on the relevant Product Name
- Scroll down to the Procedures Table
- Click on the specific Procedure Name
- Locate the Views Table
- Select the Private data tab (reporting is only available for private, authenticated sessions)
All reporting activity for that procedure will be listed in the table.
From this interface, you can:
- View data for each procedure attempt.
- Name of viewer
- Total elapsed time
- View date
- Success rate
- Rating
- Overall comment
- Location
- Expand individual entries to review reporting data:
- Step completion status and time spent on steps
- Comments provided by the user
- Photos uploaded for verification
- Export all report data to
.xlsxformat for audits or recordkeeping.
